Henry at 2 weeks old. He was shorter and thicker than Hudson. Hudson is long and lean. Henry had more hair and his eyes were very dark from the beginning. It will be interesting to see who Hudson looks like.

Henry with Grammie Sue & Hudson 10 Days Old
Grammie Sue brought some cowboy gear from Maine. She and Grampa Dan are staying with us to help out for a week or so. We are all loving it especially Henry who has been entertaining them.
The heat index was 112 today and the humidity was a killer.
Stacey’s friends have a pool. Grammie Sue and Aunt Stacey almost taught Henry to swim today. He is on the brink.
Hudson and I stayed in the air conditioned car. I was so worried about him in the heat. I have no idea how people had babies 200 years ago in the south. Or worked in the fields. It really blows my mind.
Hudson – 10 days old. He was fussy in the heat and was very sleepy when he got home in the air conditioning.

Grateful… tired
I am so incredibly grateful to God for our beautiful baby and what a miracle Hudson is. I am so incredibly grateful for my helpful, energetic and smart three year old. I am so incredibly grateful for a husband who is able to be home and has been working so hard here to help and take care of all of us and loving every second of it. God has truly blessed us.
How is Hudson adjusting? – he’s a perfect newborn. Eating, sleeping, pooping, peeing, snuggling and just being his most adorable self. All of those things bring me to my knees in gratitude – seriously.
How am I adjusting? Exhausting wouldn’t describe the level of tiredness after his birth, hospital stay and first few days home. On Monday I started to feel a level of normalcy and then totally over did it. Being the type that doesn’t want to sit around, I tend to push the envelop. But I am really trying to pace myself.

Hudson’s 1 Week Birthday
Hudson is 7 days old – growing up too fast already. Here he is with his big brother on his first visit to church. This week is our church’s international convention – a week when all the domestic and international missionaries come together for a conference at home base in Baltimore. It is great refreshment in the Word of God and fun with friends.
Tim met Hudson tonight too.
Tim was brave and held the tiny one.

Hudson 6 Days Old
Hudson had his first outing to visit someone today. Daddy dropped us off at the farm and we hung out with great aunt Stacey until cousin Rye picked up and brought us home again.
The fresh air made someone a snuggle bug all day and he pretty much hasn’t woken up. I am hoping he sleeps this well tonight. He is such a good baby.
These boys just melt my heart. I puts me on the verge of tears all the time. We are so blessed. Aunt Stacey got a desk for Henry. He loved it and said he was in college.
I cannot fathom God’s love because I can’t imagine loving my children any more than I do. And yet my heart is enlarged every day.
Snuggle Bunkin’s first tractor ride. Made his big brother proud when he wasn’t terrified of the the attack turkey.
This boy loves chickens!
He got to meet McKenzie today. Or sleep and be held by McKenzie.
Having fun on the farm. Aunt Stacey always makes it fun for him!
Hudson met his grandfather today too! Dave’s dad.
Cousin Rye came and brought us a delicious meal with tons of food and a gluten free cake that is out of this world. She also fed Henry lunch and folded my clothes! Such an amazing cousin and friend. And she endured a complete circus of Maggie stealing food and Henry literally bouncing off the walls from the excitement of Rye being here. She is an incredible person.

Hudson–5 Days Old
Hudson is sleeping here but has been up more today.
Big brother Henry went to church with Daddy.
Henry held Hudson for the first time. We waited until he was ready and today he kept asking. He did a great job.
Henry is always kissing baby brother.

Hudson 4 Days Old
Hudson’s first outing was a doctor’s appointment this morning. It was also our first time trying to get out the door as a family of four.
Hudson had low levels of jaundice in the hospital. I think he was less jaundice than Henry. All very common for newborns. Anyway, jaundice levels peak between day 3 – 5, so we had an appointment to have it checked today. The doctor has so little concern for his jaundice when he saw him he didn’t even test him.
Hudson was also a small baby. Something he has in common with his brother and both of his parents. We were all in the 6 pound range as far as I know. He lost weight while in the hospital because my milk hadn’t come in – all common and expected things. They did want to check his weight again today. My milk came in yesterday and he had already gaining weight! Yay, Hudson!
The doctor said he looked great and we set up our next appointment.
Henry is obsessed with doctors. He asked the doctor for a turn. It actually broke my heart the doctor wouldn’t pretend with him a little. He is so excited about the whole thing. He even faked being sick but the doctor was all business today.
Here is Henry faking his illness.
Dave called Henry the ambassador of the waiting room because he went up to everyone and asked them to say hello to his mom and dad. So unbelievably cute.
Here is Henry washing the car with his daddy.
Memaw came to visit the littlest nugget.
This little Hudson is so precious he makes me want to cry all the time. He’s such a good baby. He loves being outside. It makes him sleep. So comfy cozy. He loves to eat. He loves to sleep. He loves to be held. He is very strong. His skinny little body is deceiving. His big brother is madly in love with him too. Hudson is the first person Henry asks about when he comes back into the house.
And Hudson is a pooping machine! The things that comfort a mother of a newborn baby .
