Leaving - not on a jet plane

It's almost 5 am and I've been up for an hour. Yup. Love those days when I really need sleep because I have a big day infront of me and I can't sleep. But today I just got up and started doing things because there is no sense just lying in bed. I told myself I'd go to group power class this morning if I were up by 5:30 - never dreaming it would happen.

We are leaving for MD around 4pm today. Driving the whole way the Lord willing with our friend B.J. It should be a fun road trip and I hope to get a little nap as we won't be there until 1:30 - 3 am.

I have to go to the gym (I don't have to), go running, bring my dog to doggy overnight camp (I can't take putting her in Kennels), finish doing laundry, make sure the house is clean incase it gets shown, leave a detailed list for my in charge employee, make several phone calls to clients to make sure they can do their own p/up's, run to Rockland, work, pack and I probably forgot things. Kind of scary. No wonder I'm up at 4 am.

We are going to have an incredible time in Maryland. There will be international missionaries there and lots of people from our church in Maryland. Lots of messages from the Word of God. We are really looking forward to getting spiritually recharged, visiting with friends and family, and possibly getting some rest.

Some Pictures

Here are some photos from today. Not in Chronological order.

Our walk (Maggie and I) the sun was burning of the fog.

My friend Mishelle and her family up from MS visiting. I haven't seen her in almost a year. She is pregnant and has a little 13 month old boy. There was a picture of her and me but I looked way bigger than she does - it doesn't exist anymore

Here's my Maggie on our walk

This picture is not so great. Dave's done a great job on the gardens this year.

I finished the day by working and then meeting my networking group at a local restaurant for dinner.

Running Never Felt so Good

I was in such a groove with running for about a month until 2 weeks ago when I went to Mass. I also couldn't go to my weightlifting class for a week and then they had a week break - so it's been two weeks since I've done any hardcore exercise. I have walked my dog and worked at the cleaners which is very physical but that doesn't count in my book. I have had zero energy and been on the cranky side. Today I discovered my drug of choice - other than sugar - I love how I feel after I exercise. I did my group power class for an hour, walked my dog about a mile and then went running with my friend Bonny for about 2.5 miles in the rain. One of my reasons for not running recently was the horrible weather, but today I discover I love running in the rain. It feels so good. Well - it wasn't exactly raining - just very, very foggy with light rain. Wow - I felt great. Then I made a seafood chowder which I finished at 9:40 pm (we are bad about eating late). When I finally sat down, I realized how tired I am.

My War with Sugar

Lately I have been reading books and lots of information on the pitfuls of eating sugar and refined flour. I know it's SOOOOOOOOO bad for me and I also know it's an addiction because I crave it! I have won many battles (days without sugar) and lost many (today). I am just hoping this war ends soon - and I win! I feel so much better when I am not eating it. Better attitude, more energy, sleep better - the list goes on and on. It's just so comforting in the moment.

Me as a Missionfield

Today has been a great day. I am nearing the end of my working marathon - several days in a row with no day off. The Moldovans met me at work bright and early this morning with a special gift. They said they wanted me to start my day off with a smile. I definitely did! They gave me an ornamental clay leaf that says Moldova and has a cluster of grapes on it as well. It was so touching. I thanked them and thanked God and prayed that in some way I could touch their lives with God's love. I want them to see Christ in me as imperfect as I am. I know that God sent them to me to bless me and that they may see Him through me.

After they left, I was at the Cleaner's alone. A woman opened a very large washer after her load was done. A gushing waterfall proceeded. It was lovely. The funny thing is it happened twice. Nice. It all worked out and the woman was very nice and patient.

After work I headed down to a large ledge on the picturesque harbor we live near with a book. I didn't read much - just relaxed in the warm sun and the cool sea breeze. It was fabulous.

My thought of the day has been that there are many layers or many types of missionfields. As a Bible College graduate I am always thinking of missionfields - the missionfield of New England, the missionfield of Maryland, the missionfield of Eastern Europe and so on. Am I treating where I live like a missionfield? Then I realized that I am my own missionfield. I had never thought of it that way. Am I treating myself like a missionfield. Am I investing the Word of God into myself. If I don't start with the missionfield of my own soul, where will I get with other missionfields? My time in New England has been like Moses' time in the back side of the desert. I am learning more about myself as a missionfield and I have met God in a deeper way.

Welcome to me

I have been reading many people's blogs for many months, so I decided to venture out on my own and try it. We'll see.

It's been an interesting couple of days at the Cleaner's. We have had a shaky start with our employment this summer. By now we usually have geared up for the busy season and all of our seasonal employees are in place. Needless to say, we have had one start and work only a week, one get hired and not start, and one that has started but can only work a VeRy limited schedule. Next week is an international missionary convention at the home base of the ministry we are a part of. It's something we LoVe to go to and get very built up by attending. This worker issue has put into question whether or not we would head down. We had a small Bible study at my mother's house on Wednesday evening. We all prayed for people - me with very little expectation. Thursday morning two Moldovans walked through the door of the Cleaner's and asked for work. Thank you Jesus. Answer to prayer. Last year we had two Moldovans work and they were excellent. They are University Students coming to America for a Work/ Travel/ English program. I always forget what incredible workers they are. The two that came in, a 2o year old couple, came back to meet me at 2pm ready to work! Thank you God again! They learned everything so quickly and when I told them they could leave, they said, "so soon". Wow! I haven't heard words like that since last summer. It looks like we will be heading south this week for a whirlwind trip to Maryland with our friend B.J.. Can't wait!
