Maggie the Dog’s Back Injury & Dental Work

Beech Hill 057

Anyone who knows us well knows Maggie is our beloved hound, our first child – but of course has recently taken back seat to our human child and one on the way.  She is still very loved and even more when she isn’t feeling well.

The last couple of days she has had a very difficult time moving around.  Especially getting up stairs, on the couch and on the bed (I know that probably grosses some out).    This is completely out of character as she is usually leaping and jumping around.  Mostly when an innocent person walks by the house or anyone is eating food within 50 feet.  She has been pretty quiet the last couple of days.

I took her to the vet this morning as I was very concerned with her behavior/lameness.  Turns out she has a back sprain.  While she was there we had her teeth cleaned and looked at because we were told she should probably have them pulled at least a year and a half ago.  This sudden sickness was making me feel guilty about letting an infection brew in her mouth for months.  She did end up having to go under anesthesia and getting some abscessed teeth pulled and she will probably be on antibiotics and some med for her back issue.

I had some people praying for her and am very happy that it was a rather minor issue.  Now we just need prayer that we can keep her movement limited.  Keeping a spoiled dog from beds and couches is very difficult.

Dave is picking her up on his way home from work.  I just called to see that she woke up from her minor surgery okay.
