The Majesty of the Mundane – Oswald Chambers. With God even the mundane details of life can be exciting, eternal and have very deep purpose. Thought from Baltimore early service.

2 Weeks and 1 Day before #1 Birthday
Actually it’s number 2 birthday if you count his real birth day. Henry will be 1 in just two weeks. So hard to believe. He’s feeling better and so is his father. Today we went on a walk with his grandfather after an explosion from which BOTH of our outfits were casualties. The side effects of antibiotics.
We also went out to lunch with Great Aunt Stace and Grammie Sue. Thanks Grammie!! Then we went Grammie’s house so mom (aka me) could kick Great Aunt’s and Grammie’s butts at Scrabble. Yup.
No nap today. Both of us are tired. So nice to get out for a whole day, though the cleanliness of the house is suffering.
From our walk
Getting home after a long day and a long week of sickness.
I think another explosion has happened. Off to clean a little body, little clothes and everything surrounding.

Long Days, Longer Nights
Poor little guy came down with a terrible cough before the sun came up yesterday. He seemed to rally a few times and then took a turn for the worse in the very wee hours of this morning. We didn’t get consistent sleep until dawn, and that was only for a couple of hours. Oh the war stories of parents battling sickness in their precious babes. I vacillated between just going to the doctor or not being one of those over reacting first time moms. Well, I am a first time mom, but I finally sensed I wasn’t over reacting UNTIL. Until we made it through the doctors’ office doors and Henry acted as if we were at his first birthday party a few weeks early. I tried to hide my mild embarrassment (of my decision) as we made our way to the exam room. Everyone told me kids are always sick until you get them there. The exam started and, unfortunately, Henry was/is sicker than I had thought. He had a fever of 102. He has an ear infection and very bad chest cough. We immediately drove to get the medication and then settled into the end of a long day after an endless night. Never forgetting to be grateful that I can be with him while he is sick and for so many other things. Pray for my little boy and his mom who holds back tears watching him suffer.

The Goodness of God
Meister Eckhart encourages us to remember that, when we return to God, even if our sins were as great in number as all of mankind’s put together, still God would not count them against us, but would have as much confidence in us as if we had never sinned.
The Knowledge of the Holy, A.W. Tozer
Sung this morning at the 8:30 service in Baltimore. Henry and I were listening while getting ready for church.

The Love of God
A quote from The Knowledge of the Holy by A.W. Tozer
Our Father which art in Heaven, we thy children are often troubled in mind, hearing within at once the affirmations of faith and the accusations of conscience. We are sure that there is in us nothing that could attract the love of One as holy and as just as Thou art. Yet Thou hast declared Thine unchanging love for us in Christ Jesus. If nothing in us can win Thy love, nothing in the universe can prevent Thee from loving us. Thy love is uncaused and undeserved. Thou art Thyself the reason for the love wherewith we are loved. Help us believe the intensity, the eternity of the love that has found us. Then love will cast out fear; and our troubled hearts will be at peace, trusting not in what we are but in what Thou hast declared Thyself to be. Amen.

It’s Not about Us
Worship is not about us it’s about Him.
Worship is not about here it’s about there.
It’s not about now it’s about then.
It’s not about one it’s about many (we need each other).
You were created to worship.

Little Boys and Naughty Dogs
Henry fell into the coffee table yesterday. Not the first time. He did bloody his nose though. Poor little guy. It’s tough learning to walk.
Some new foods he likes -
He loves grapes and has been eating them for a while, raisins, turkey burger, chicken, burger, smoked gouda cheese (I think this made his nose all mucusy), dill pickles, bread and butter pickles, oranges AND
snickers candy bars, chocolate milk, chocolate chip cookies, ice cream, gummy worms – Just joking about all the sweets. Haha.
We (Henry and I) took Maggie to the vet yesterday. That wasn’t easy. Maggie almost killed all three of us pulling us into the vet. She loves it there. Fortunately the vet tech walked her out to the car. I think if I had more than one child I would lock them in the car until I got Maggie to her destination. I can’t bring her killer collar to the vet because they’ll think we’re psychos (they might already anyway). If they spent a day with her they’d see she needs some control. I know all you out there who know her are giving me an amen right now. Maggie is a dog that only her parents (us) could love. Annoying is an understatement. I’m getting another amen out there. Especially from Rye (and Vinny in heaven). Both have confessed their hatred. Don’t worry – Dave, Henry and I make up for it in our love. Maggie is definitely a princess – an expensive princess I might add.
