37 Weeks–Countdown Begins

21 Days until due date.  Today marks full term, so the next Mr. Umstead could be born between now and the next 5 weeks.

Weight?  About the same.

Pain?  I am not sure if I am having braxton hicks contractions or not.  I don’t remember having contraction like pain with Henry before he was born except maybe a few the night before I went into labor.  But seem to have something going on now.  Could be nerve pain from the pressure of the baby’s head.

Feelings/ tiredness?  I seem to be doing okay with feelings and tiredness and then it all hits me like a brick wall and I have zero patience and zero energy.

Cravings?  I have really enjoyed ice cubes lately which has been driving Dave nuts.  I am so loud chomping down on them.  Part of me just wants to “hog down” because it’s the end.  I think it’s a psychological thing.

Exercise?  I was so busy over the weekend, I got out of my pretty regular routine of either walking or doing tae bo.  I am surprising myself that I can do the entire video.  I have been doing the entire video more at the end of my pregnancy than the beginning.  I think it’s because I am more motivated.  That’s probably why I get so tired too!

Nesting?  Who knows.   I am a list writer and a task doer from way back, so it’s hard to say if that has increased.

Heat?  I always forget how hot it gets in Maryland in the summer.  Hot!  Does it affect my pregnancy?  I don’t love the sweltering heat, but that is how I feel when I am not pregnant, so I am not sure there is a difference.

Sleep?  Wow, I want to sleep!  Having the dog locked out is amazing.  I try to discipline myself with a routine because that’s just how I roll.  I feel slothful and guilty for sleeping in.  These recent days (last few) I have let myself sleep until 8:30 because I realize, I better sleep now or forever hold my sleep!  Henry is still sleeping!  I am very glad because he doesn’t take naps and he has been really tired lately.  I think he is growing.  We go to church Wednesday night and usually go to a Thursday morning Bible study but I am letting him sleep as long as he wants today.  Better for both of us!

Birth date guesses?  Hmmm.  That’s a tough one.  I would like to say he will come a little early because that’s is my intuition.  Really, I have no idea.  I am not super uncomfortable yet, but if he’s ready to come, come little boy!

Thoughts?  I constantly remind myself of women in other parts of the world and women in our own country who did so much while pregnant.

What babycenter says:

Your baby is now considered "full term," even though your due date is three weeks away. If you go into labor now, his lungs will likely be mature enough to fully adjust to life outside the womb. (Some babies need a bit more time, though. So if you're planning to have a repeat c-section, for example, your practitioner will schedule it for no earlier than 39 weeks unless there's a medical reason to intervene earlier.)

Your baby weighs 6 1/3 pounds and measures a bit over 19 inches, head to heel (like a stalk of Swiss chard). Many babies have a full head of hair at birth, with locks from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inches long. But don't be surprised if your baby's hair isn't the same color as yours. Dark-haired couples are sometimes thrown for a loop when their children come out as blonds or redheads, and fair-haired couples have been surprised by Elvis look-alikes. And then, of course, some babies sport only peach fuzz.

Henry loves his Uncle Johnny.

Henry is a very funny kid.  He has a great sense of humor.  He especially loves to use new phrases.

Lately he’s been answer yes-sir-ee  to questions.  The other day after Dave’s graduation he was teasing Myriah.  He had picked up on that she is grossed out by snot and boogers.  We were all sitting around my living room.  Henry showed her his snot and said, “Eat it, taste it, hog down!”  Which is pretty gross, but we all found it funny at the time.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Today I had a prenatal check up and got my cervix checked for dilation.  The baby’s head is in position and I am 1 centimeter dilated.  That doesn’t mean anything.  I wasn’t at all dilated with Henry until after I was in labor for a while.

Go David–MBC&S Graduate!

So bummed this shot didn’t come out clearly.  Lighting was dim and I was far away and people kept standing up in  front of me so I couldn’t be still.  Trying to get a better one from Pirgi!

Class of 2012!

Well, I wish I could say I have some photos – they will have to come later.  Most of them were quite blurry because the lighting was dim and I haven’t had the time to go through the rest.  We have had a busy weekend.

Saturday morning there was a graduation breakfast for the graduates with some special guest speakers.  I had booked Henry’s first real babysitter in our house weeks in advance to make sure I got to give special focus to my husband on his special day.  I am truly so proud of the price he has paid and the choices he has made.  It is his heart to follow after God and it was so uplifting to be with the rest of the class and their families that have made the same choices.  It was also nice to get ready quickly (so much faster than with a 3 year old) and not have to rush out the door wondering what I was forgetting.  Having a babysitter was a total gift from God!  We had such a great time eating and chatting at the breakfast.  And the testimonies and speakers were so encouraging.

I went home for a little while to grab my camera and pick up Rye and Tim for the graduation.

Another special part of the day was seeing my very dear friend Rachelle who was in my wedding.  We have only seen each other once over the last 7 to 8 years and sitting next to her during the ceremony was a real treat.

When the class marched out into the audience and I saw Dave in his cap and gown, I wanted to bawl my head off.  I am so proud of my husband.  It’s such a blessing to have a husband, though imperfect like everyone else, who really wants to follow God.  He has paid the price (which it’s never really a price when choosing God) in so many areas and has sacrificed.  I love him so much.

He graduated with an Associates in Biblical Studies and will continue his Bible College education.  Go David!

Some family was in town and able to attend the graduation as well and we had an impromptu gathering at our house with Grammie, Stacey, Molly, Sam, Rye and Tim.  We pretty much collapsed from exhaustion when everyone left.  Henry literally did.

Today after church, my friend Rachelle stopped by before heading back to New York.  She was only going to stay a little while.  Our conversation was so intense, when we looked at the clock it had been over two hours!  I am so thankful we got that time together!  I love you, Rachelle!

36 Weeks Pregnant–28 Days Until Due Date

So the countdown begins!  1 Week today marks full term.  Meaning baby can be born from then (37 weeks) until two weeks past due date.

Confessions:

Weird as it is after 35 years of no possibility of my wisdom teeth coming through (words from the dentist) because they are going sideways and my mouth is too small, I have one suddenly pushing through sideways in the top of my mouth.  I highly doubt it’s possible to get them pulled now or when I am nursing.  But I will be calling the dentist tomorrow.   Maybe a hormone thing?

After all of Maggie’s recent health issues, she has made her way back into our bed… just as we had Henry in his bed full time.  It’s been a nightmare to say the least.  But definitely one of our own making.  I have been telling Dave we really need to change the situation.  Especially since we have a baby coming.  Both of us keep putting it off.  I guess we like to be tortured.  The dog seriously takes up the entire king size bed and we end up with no covers and no room.  And half the time Dave ends up going to the couch because he can’t take it.  I know.  I know.  This is so pathetic.  Yesterday it dawned on Dave that we are letting our dog rob us from a good night’s sleep.   So Maggie was kicked out.  It was the most glorious night of rest I have had in a long time.  I am kicking myself for not doing this sooner in my pregnancy.  What the heck were we thinking?  Obviously we weren’t!

Everything else is going smoothly except I have been on a pretty bad eating kick!

Great Birthday!

Had a burrito bowl at Chipotle with the grandparents (Pease), the aunt (Stacey) and my favorite 3 year old (Henry).  Then we did a brief historical tour in the neighborhood.  Thank you for lunch and making my day special.

And thank you for the phone calls, texts, cards and gifts.  It was a truly wonderful birthday!

Church was excellent tonight and daddy and mommy put Henry to bed together tonight, which was a great birthday treat!

Thank You, God, for Your unfailing love and these moments You have given me to live.  I am truly blessed by the greatest gift of all – my relationship with You.

Busy Week

"Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,' says the LORD, who has compassion on you." Isaiah 54:10

So thankful for another day of this life.  Today is my 35th birthday and I just happen to be 35 weeks (almost 36) pregnant.

We celebrated my grandfather’s birthday Monday who is visiting from Maine.  And we have Dave’s graduation on Saturday.  A very exciting, busy and blessed week.

Rustic Barn Wood Headboard

This headboard is part of our bedroom redo.  We haven’t completely finished the entire room but it’s coming soon.

bedroom1

DSC_0842-1.jpg

It all began with a pile of wood my Uncle Johnny removed from a farm he was working on and brought to their farm.  He was planning on burning it in a bonfire.  I had been planning a pallet headboard but just hadn’t gotten around to gathering the pallets over the last few months I had been planning it.  So, I created a design in my head to fit our king size sleep number bed.  I knew I need a space for the hoses and I didn’t want it too high because of the window behind it.

DSC_0871-1.jpg

Johnny helped me screw the boards into the support.  He actually did it for me!

DSC_0871-1.jpg

Stacey and Johnny put this beast in my car for me.  Getting it home was an adventure.

DSC_0871-1.jpg

With the rain off an on, it has been difficult to get a few days in a row with now rain to seal it.  It took us (Dave and me) a few weeks to seal the old paint in.  Then Dave installed it this past weekend.

Projector !

Reposting for a chance to win a projector which I really want!!

movie party....in MOMs room!

This is a sponsored review from BlogHer and 3M Mobile Projectors

I am always looking for fun ways to spend time with my kids.
3M sent a projector to help us be creative with family time.
i couldn't wait to use it.

IMG_0912-1
My mind was immediately full of ideas!
We have an outdoor movie party every year at the end of summer.
We provide every kind of topping you can imagine and our guests bring their favorite
kinds of ice cream.
In the past we've borrowed a projector, but now we have the 3Mô Mobile Projector!
It's small and portable and hooks up to an iTouch, iPod, iPad or even my laptop -- amazing!

Most of the time I am not up for hosting a big party with lots of prep and planning.
But we always have family night on Fridays. It's usually pizza and board games.
this week I surprised the kids with a formal invitation to my party.

IMG_0910-1IMG_0911-2

All we need for family night is us!
Just seeing that sign made my three youngest completely thrilled.

We piled onto my bed and used our new 3M projector to make memories together.
Comfy jammies were required, slippers were also in attendance.
We needed LOTS of soft pillows and favorite blankets.
IMG_0944-1

I popped popcorn, bought chocolate chip cookies and we used water bottles for drinks.
Actually, we even shared water bottles, because we are family!
I don't think I can watch a movie without Mike & Ike's so i made sure we had those too.

IMG_0946-1

My little girls were very excited. They love to be cuddly with me and with their dad.

The hardest part of the entire evening was choosing a movie!
We watch lots of movies so it was a challenge to pick one that keeps their interest
and that they haven't seen. My favorite family movie is "The Emperor's New Groove," so we almost
chose that. But we hadn't seen HUGO so i went with that one. I rented it from iTunes, downloading
on the iTouch. The kids found their comfy spot and settled in. There was just barely enough room
for us, but the squishier the better when it comes to cuddling!

We loved spending time together in a fun new way. You don't need a big party to have fun.
Sometimes the best times are when you are just together, even if you're smooshed. Ha ha ha!

The 3M projector will be great for slumber parties, camping, team parties...so many possibilities!
It's so small we can even take it on vacation.

It turns your tiny little iTouch into a movie theater -- that's awesome!
You can get an additional cable to hook it up to PCs if you don't have the i-products.
It is also able to be hooked up to bigger speakers for more sound.
It's available at Target.
Learn more and find special offers here.

Where would you use it first at your house? Tell me in the comment section to be entered for a
chance to win a $150 Target gift card!

Outdoor Dinner with Cousin Rye

DSC_0371-2.jpg

We enjoyed a late dinner outside with cousin Rye tonight.  It was so nice to have her visit.  Henry had to right to bed after he finished eating because he was so tired and it was getting so late.  He was asleep in minutes.

Bedroom Redo Coming Soon…

bedroom

Our bedroom redo is coming soon.  Just depends how quickly we get the art work up.  And some new bedding.

Dave worked this afternoon to put the headboard up that has been assembled for weeks.  Just needed some protective sealant on it because it’s old wood.  It took me so long, Dave ended up helping me.  Praise God!!

Thursday Work Day & 35 Days til Due Date

DSC_0339-1.jpg

After going to the Mom’s Bible Study and home for lunch, Henry and I went to the farm.  Stacey had Grampa slaving away on her projects Winking smile.  Henry kept running up to him while he was sanding and saying, “Hi, Grampa!”

Something he has been saying all day is, “Oh my gosh!  Never mind!”

His father is putting him to bed right now and he’s pretty much whining and screaming during books, Bible and prayer time.  His other famous line is that he “can’t do something anymore” if he doesn’t like it.  I just heard him tell his dad he’s sick and needs to go to the doctor.  He pulls out all of the stops!

DSC_0341-1.jpg

Sneak peek on the the beginning of the end of finishing my ugly dresser I bought at the auction.  I have been waiting and waiting on the hardware from my a place that has great hardware online but pretty horrible service.  I wish I could find another place with the same selection.

35 Weeks Pregnant!  35 Days until Due Date!

My next doctor’s appointment is on May 29, Lord willing.  I will be a couple days shy of 37 weeks and a couple of days shy of full term.  Which means technically it would be okay for me to go into labor from May 31 on.   I will also get checked for dilation on my nex t appointment and hopefully we will be able to tell what kind of progress we are or are not making.

I have been having some pretty severe pelvic pain at times which I am hoping is a sign that the baby has dropped.  There’s a lot of pressure.

Other than that, things are going so well and still even forget I am pregnant at times.  Not too uncomfortable.  That could change quickly!
